Beauty on a Budget
I was asked recently how long it had been since my last massage and I really had to think about that.
Yes we are told to look after ourselves, take time to relax and treat ourselves but it can be hard enough to find the time let alone the spare cash to make certain beauty treatments a regular part of your routine.
So I set myself a challenge to check out whats on offer around Brisbane to help both guys and gals feel pampered, gorgeous and that will fit in with any budget.
First up was to get a massage and since I was a student there has been an increase in cheap beauty options to help you save some money while looking after yourself.
Yesterday I headed over to Q Academy at New Farm for a 60 min Swedish Massage at the Student clinic. All graduating students are required to take part in the student clinic which gives them more practical experience as well as learning how to run their own business. My 60 min massage cost me a total of $20. The price was great and so was the massage. You can always go for the 90 min remedial massage which will set you back $30 to help with any aches and pains. The students were professional and I left a relaxed and happy girl contemplating another visit in the near future.
Q Academy also have clinics on the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast for those outside of Brisbane who want a bit of relaxation that won't hurt the budget.
If you are after something a bit more lavish or some time with the girls, check out the student clinic at Qld School of Beauty at Toowong. They have treatments for guys and gals ranging from singular treatments through to half day packages at very reasonable prices.
My experience with student clinics has always been great. The students are final year students who are keen to put all of that knowledge and practice to use in a real world environment while they await their graduation. Some times its a matter of weeks before these same students will be charging the same prices as your local beautician.
If you are in the city and need to touch up the nails or want a facial in your lunch break then check out Bellevue Beauty. They cater for guys and gals and do all your usual beauty work with prices that will definitely keep cash in your wallet.
If you are in the Valley head over to the College of Natural Beauty for all your standard beauty treatments for both guys and gals at budget prices.
If you appreciate saving some cash, let the students at Brisbane School of Hairdressing have a go at your hair as well. The students are supervised and have more experienced hairdressers on hand to help out and keep an eye on what they are doing.

I am pleasantly surprised at the range of services now available at prices that will suit most budgets. I may just consider a bit more pampering myself at these prices.
